Discovering Jasper - Wildlife Tour

My second adventure on Saturday was the wildlife tour – An old and experience man pick up about 10 tourists and drives them around on Jaspers remote roads, trying to spot some exotic animals. The weather conditions spoke against any success, when it rains the bears hike in the woods.

After one hour of no luck we approached a number of cars standing on the side of the road (a great sign that there are animals somewhere). And yes, apparently a huge bear was looking for berries about 50 meters into the woods; just outside a camp site (I am happy I am not a camper).  Very hard to get a good picture due to the rapid movements but I hope you can see that it is in fact a black bear.

After that we also spotted a herd of elks trying to pass one of the major roads close to Jasper downtown. Quite fun to see, as they are experienced road crossers and they look both ways before crossing…
