The View from the Top

Entering the last week on my internship here in Calgary, which has been truly amazing. I am so grateful for being given this opportunity and for meeting all these wonderful people. When I think back on how it all started with a big portion of honesty I can’t help to repeat the everlasting cliché that all things happens for a reason…

So much for philosophizing…. The biggest problem right now is to fit everything in my suitcase. Apparently the accumulated shopping has been quite optimistic.

So on Saturday I will catch my flight to Toronto to meet up with family and new friends. And while it’s true what they say, "every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end", I am not sure Calgary is a finished chapter in my book.

The Treat of the Week

Spend most part of this weekend with my partner in crime, P. Yesterday we had amazing doughnuts at Jelly Modern Doughnuts before we headed to the mall to check out the last sale (please note that these are not any doughnuts....the one to the top right is topped with bacon!). We also manage to catch the lovely movie “One Day” which I recommend everyone to watch. Extremely well played by Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. Both P and I managed to fall some tears…
Today we did some animal sightseeing at Calgary ZOO before we chilled at Sunterra with Coca Cola made of sugar cane…
Great weekend indeed and I will miss this girl for sure!

The World Is My Playground

Right now I am incredibly busy socializing at Social, eating the best tapas ever, having wine, shopping and watching a firework competition. Me like.

Hot Yoga

My recovery from the weekends extensive hiking lasted one day, as my dearest Mexican friend P, invited me for some hot yoga. As a former soccer player I have never been limber but I take all the chances I can get to become slimmer. So with sore muscles we met up…

If someone do not know what hot yoga is, then I can enlighten you with the simple fact that it is yoga practicing in approximately 90 Fahrenheit (I am totally Canadian now by the way).  Anyway, after 5 min of doing movements I do not know the name of my toes started to cramp. 15 min later I was sweating like a man (or Rodrigo ;-)) while all other slender females (and men) seem unaffected. After that it was like I had peed in my pants.

But I did survive, and all in all a very pleasant experience I will try to keep up once I land in Toronto.

Thank you P!

Bear Warning

Naturally, I did not hike alone..

Lake Louise – Moraine Lake and Sentinel Pass

I arrived to Lake Louise this morning and in my luggage I had a sever hangover. After a substantial breakfast in Lake Lousie Village this was partly cured and I headed over to my great HI Hostel to drop of some luggage.

After that there was one small problem. To get to the nice hiking trails in this area you either need a. a car or b. enough cash to take a taxi. Sense I do not possess any of these traits I did what I have never done before – hitch-hike the 14 km to Moraine Lake.  For hitch-hiking you need a. a paper with destination b. a smile on your face c. a bit of luck and d. a car with at least 2 women inside.

Anyway, let’s not waste more details on that (more than the fact that I also hitch-hiked back to my hostel), look at today’s pictures (well not all of them) and acknowledge the fact that I hiked approximately 20 km today...

Still some snow left which we need to cross

Not everyone has the strenght to continue

Powerful

Adele - Rolling in the Deep

There’s a fire starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch, it’s bringing me out the dark
Finally I can see you crystal clear
Go head and sell me out and I’ll lay your shore bare
See how I leave with every piece of you
Don’t underestimate the things that I will do

There’s a fire starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch
And its bring me out the dark

The scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love they leave me breathless
I can’t help feeling
We could have had it all
Rolling in the deep
You had my heart and soul
And you played it
To the beat

Baby I have no story to be told
But I’ve heard one of you
And I’m gonna make your head burn
Think of me in the depths of your despair
Making a home down there
It Reminds you of the home we shared

The scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love they leave me breathless
I can’t help feeling
We could have had it all
Rolling in the deep
You had my heart and soul
And you played it
To the beat
