Melancholic Saturday
Anna Ternheim - Shoreline
I've been standing on the shoreline
Always waiting
For something lasting
Loose your hunger, you loose your way
Get confused and you fade away
Oh this town
Kills you when you are young
Oh this town
Kills you when you are young
I'm not the boy i used to be
This town has got the youth of me
All eyes turn hollow
From the work of sorrow
Standing on the paving
By the office building
They've got so much to do
Never time for you
We are shadows
Oh we're shadows
Shadows in the alley
You die when you're young
You die when you're young
You die when you're young

Time
Tomorrow I will see M again. It’s been
approximately 2 months, separated by distance and time and then back to only
distance again. We are used to it and we know we can do it and that we want to
do it.
There is too much going on in life than to
be attached to one person physically. But mentally, we are always together and
in the end that is the most important thing.
Nevertheless, the physical form of M is
very much appreciated tomorrow! I can finally meet up with my friends that
somehow are all in pairs now, with my own partner in crime. I guess I forget that time passes also at home
when I am away.

Napa
One of the most perfect areas in the world
is Midwest California, with San Francisco, the ocean and Napa Valley. Here you
will find it all; great culture, amazing food, shopping and wine. If you are heading to Napa Valley,
take the Golden Gate Bridge and enjoy the beautiful scenery overlooking the
city. Once you are in Napa, make sure your first stop is Robert Mondavi vinery…
and that you have a driver ;-)

What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas (Except the Photographs)
Probably the most popular destination from
Calgary (and not because of the quality but because of the price) is Las Vegas.
I made my way to Las Vegas, via a detour to Grand Canyon and had the
opportunity to celebrate Christmas in the most sinful way. Reflecting over the
days in Vegas I can come to the conclusion that I was more interested in the
hot tub in our room in combination with the bath bombs from Lush than exploring
the Casinos.
I applaud the American for their creativity
(I mean what else can you do in the desert anyway), and I look forward to see
the whole mess being powered by solar energy in the near future.

Ironic
Today I feel sorry for myself. I am already
deep down in my cosy bed in my cosy pyjamas, with my Starbucks mug filled with
green tea (vanilla and black currant). Maybe I will even take a taste of my
Lindt Chocolate Sea Salt, which means I am most certain very sad.
Might have been that I have been listening
too many times to Eva Cassidy, or because my earphones broke so I cannot listen
to music anymore, or because my muscles are sour from the body pump program, or
because I had to wake up 5.45 am, or maybe it is just the thing that life is so
damn ironic.
Yes, that is probably it – Irony

Calgary
Photographs: Calgary, Alberta
After a cold weekend there is a white layer
covering Calgary, which softly began to melt today when temperatures slowly
reached above 0 degrees. I do not mind it, there is nothing more beautiful than
a winter landscape in bright sunlight.

Lyckliga dagar rusar iväg så fort
Stanna ett tag, räck mig din varma hand
Lyckliga dagar rinner iväg som sand"

Where Do You Go When You Are Lonely?
You might ask yourself
what the hell I am doing on the other side of the globe, and yes, I have asked
myself the same thing many times the past week. The truth is that it is about
exploration – if you do not try you never know. And as many of you know I hate
uncertainties. But at least, now I know. And it is not going to break me.
While many of you spent Valentine’s Day with your love and family, I spend mine at Starbucks. I guess it is a different kind of love I feel for this place. But never underestimate a familiar face...
A more suitable Valentine's song for my part is this one (has to be country since I am in Alberta)

The Iron Lady
Ok, so one of the reasons I decided to go
and spend some time in Canada was to experience a beautiful winter wonderland,
going skiing in the Rockies and spend enormous amount of time with my camera
capturing the beauty of the cold. I could so far not be more wrong. When I
landed about a week ago it was war 9 plus Celsius and since then we have barely
been below zero. I am terribly jealous of the magnificent winter that has hit
Europe (although I do understand it has it disadvantages). But please do me a
favor and enjoy it. It is so much better than sitting in a grey Alberta
landscape.
Since experience the Canadian winter has
proven to be a disappointing activity I have now turned to more indoor
activities – Like going to the movies. Today I went to see “The Iron Lady” with
Maryl Streep. I am sorry to reveal the news but if this lady does not get the
Oscar for best actress in leading role, this world is truly going down.
Excellent performance portraying one of the most powerful woman in the UK history.
In short: SEE IT!
Lets end the evening with a classic from
